Hello everyone,
October was an extremely busy for us as a group. We welcomed several new members to the WCGHS. Several have had the opportunity to go on investigations, while others are still waiting. We will have plenty of opportunities for those who would like to go investigations in the upcoming months. We were also featured in several local newspapers in the month of October. In the past month our website also hit a milestone, we surpassed the 250,000 hit mark.
We have conducted three separate investigations at the Manteno Mental Hospital . The Morgan building is still up and intact. They have begun to remove some the things from the building in order to get it ready for demolition. The building has always been the most active in the hospital campus. However, since the preparation for the demolition has started the activity has started to increase. Our last investigation here was conducted on October 20/21. On this night we meet at 10pm and concluded our investigation around 2am. Several people claim to have seen a shadow person in the building, while other claim to being touched by unseen hands. We heard several unusual things, including footsteps, wood being dropped, as well as other unusual noises. Our members recorded several EVPs, and photographed several spirit orbs, and ectoplasmic vapor. Needless to say this will not be our last visit to this location.
We also had the privilege to do an investigation at the Paramount Theater in Aurora , IL . The theater was opened on September 3, 1931. The location is supposedly haunted by the ghosts of past performers. On the night we investigated the location, numerous members claim to have seen a person in the control booth. Upon questioning the only employee in the building at the time, told us there was no one else in the building and the booth is locked. We did get a few possible EVPs, but nothing concrete.
The next investigation we conducted was at the Riverfront Theater in Aurora , IL . The building houses a ghost that seems to be most active around the time of productions. Items have completely vanished, only to reappear in the exact location were they have been looked for only minutes before. Upon walking around the building, we were able to find evidence of a past fire, which may be a clue to why the haunting is occurring. There was a rehearsal going on when we were there, so we were unable to conduct a proper investigation. So, this will be done at a later date.
We also had the honor to investigate the Tanner House Museum in Aurora , IL . The home was built in 1857. There were 4 recorded deaths at this location, and at least 2 wakes. Most of the paranormal activity that has taken place here centers around an upstairs bedroom. There have been reports of the door locking, an impression forming on the bed, strange noises, and the smell of fresh flowers. On the night were at this location we were privileged to see the impression form on the bed in front of us. This was caught in a sequences of shots, photographed by a photographer from the Beacon News. We also were able captured an image of a woman in a dress in this exact location during this time. Several E VPs were also recorded during our investigation. The photo and EVPs can be found on our website. A full report will be posted later in the week.
The most recent investigation was done at a private residence in Joliet , IL this past Friday night. The investigation started around 10pm and was concluded around 5:30am. We are still in the process of reviewing the data collected. Once we meet with the homeowner and disclose the findings of our investigation, a report will be posted on our website. We also conducted numerous investigations at cemeteries in the Chicagoland area. Several members also conducted investigations in Alton , IL .
We have been conducting investigations every weekend (Friday and Saturdays). There is always opportunity for members to participant. Private residence and business investigation are open to members who actively participant in investigations. Prior to attending these investigations members must attend a cemetery or a Manteno Mental Hospital investigation. We must also have a membership agreement form from every member wishing to attend any WCGHS investigations or meetings.
The WCGHS was contacted by numerous reporters in the month of October to feature us in stories for their newspapers. The Daily Southtown October 1, 2006, The Naperville Sun October 5,2006, The Naperville Sun October 13, 2006, The Beacon News October 28, 2006, October 29, 2006, Lincoln-Way Sun October 25, 2006, Lincoln-Way Sun November 1, 2006, Herald News October 29, 2006, Morris Daily Herald October 31, 2006. We have also been in a handful of others, but those are the majority.
You can see we have been extremely busy. We will be having a meeting on Sunday November 12, 2006. The meeting will be held at the Shorewood Troy Library at 2pm. The address is 650 Deerwood, Shorewood , IL 60431 . Everyone is welcome to attend. We will be reviewing EVPs, pictures, and investigations.
The website has had over 10,000 hits in the past week. There has been some updates done to the website, and many more will come in the next 2 months. Please check back often at www.aghostpage.com.
