WILL COUNTY GHOST HUNTERS SOCIETY

Investigating ghosts and haunted sites throughout North America

Hello everyone,
The year is only one month old, and so far it has been an extremely good one for the WCGHS. We have several new members. We have begun to assign some positions, and are in the process of assigning more. The entire month of February is scheduled with home investigations. However, the most exciting news for us, is the acquisition of our new equipment.

First, we would like to welcome all of our new members. We have decided to assign all members a status in the WCGHS. Everyone will have a status of a active or nonactive membership. For those who do not attend investigations or meetings will be placed on a nonactive membership status. To become an active member you must attend 75% of the monthly meetings, attend open investigations on a regular basis, and follow all rules and protocols of the WCGHS. We will also assign some members to the positions of investigators and investigators in training. The positions that we have assigned so far are case managers, and interviewer. We will have multiple members in each position. Cindy Johnson, Sarah Johnson, and Kathy Stinson have been appointed case managers. Tracey Brandys will be in the position of interviewer.  We are in the need of researchers, and techs to handle our equipment.

In the month of January, the WCGHS did several investigations, both open and private. Personally, I started the month in Hampton, Virgina. Investigations were done at historic churches, graveyards, and forts.  These investigations did show evidence of the spirit activity that is still present at these locations. In the second week of the month we conducted several investigations at some of the local cemeteries in the Will County, Grundy County, and Kendall County areas. No evidence was gathered on these investigations. We also, conducted a private home investigation in Joliet, IL. Reports for some of these investigations are available on our website, the others will be posted within the next few weeks.

During the months of December and January several updates were done to our website. New pages have been added, and other have been updated. The host we are using for our website have had an ongoing issue for the past several months with the media players. I am pleased to say that the issue seems to have been corrected. The EVP pages now display a windows media player for the EVP files. Prior to this the media player a text link was display and required the download of the file to listen to the file. We are in the process of changing all text files to media players, this will eliminate people lifting our files and make it much easier to listen to.

Earlier this week we acquired a new piece of equipment, a 16 channel DVR. We have been talking about acquiring this piece of equipment for well over a year, and now we have it. A 16 channel DVR will give us the ability to use 16 different cameras on any given investigation. It is very similar to the DVR that TAPS uses on the show Ghosthunters. We are in the process of building the entire system. The DVR alone is $3,500 piece of equipment. We are looking into cameras, a power supply , tripods, baluns, a monitor, and cable. Membership and investigations have always been free, but we are in need of equipment and/or funds. If anyone has extra tripods, a flat screen computer monitor, CAT 5E cable that they would be willing to donate to the WCGHS, it would greatly be appreciated. If anyone can donate any funds to the WCGHS of the purchase of any equipment, please go to our homepage (www.aghostpage.com) and click on the donate button. Even $5.00 would help, payments can be made with credit cards and checks. If anyone would like to send payment through the mail, please email me at Ghosthunter1@sbcglobal.net for the address. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We will also need two members to train to become our DVR Techs. These two members will be in charge of setting up, and breaking the DVR down on investigations. They will be trained on how to operate the system, and how to review the footage. These individuals will be required to attend all private investigations, so they should be available on weekends to attend investigations.

The month of February is extremely busy for us. On February 10, we will be conducting an investigation a private residence in Rockdale,IL.  On the following Saturday February 17, we will be conducting an investigation in Belvidere, IL at a private residence.  On the last Saturday of the month February 24, we will be conducting an investigation in Mendota, IL at a private residence. On February 25, we will have our monthly meeting at the Shorewood Troy Library. The address is 650 Deerwood, Shorewood, IL 60431. The meeting will begin at 2pm sharp. We will be reviewing pictures and EVPs from recent investigations, as well as discussing upcoming WCGHS business. Everyone is welcome to attend. On March 3, there will be a ghost dinner and investigation at the Union League Boys and Girls Club of Chicago. We will be sending additional information on this event later this week.

The next few months will be extremely busy for us. Spring is just around the corner, and that means the weather will break and open investigations at cemeteries will be occurring more often. We hope to see you all soon.  If anyone has any questions, issues or ideas, please feel free to contact me directly at ghosthunter1@sbcglobal.net

Take care,
